Your 5-star hotel in Juan les Pins
An elegant and artistic heritage
The Juana story
In the 1930s, Juan-les-Pins became one of the most sought-after destinations on the Riviera, attracting an international clientele seduced by its elegance and art of living. Inspired by this effervescence, Alexandre Barache commissioned architect Georges Dikanski to build the Hôtel Juana in 1931. The establishment soon welcomed such prestigious guests as Aga Khan III, Edward VIII and Winston Churchill.
In the 1960s, the hotel became an emblematic venue for artists and jazz figures. Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald all contributed to its legend, closely linked to the Jazz à Juan Festival.
In 1984, the hotel also made gastronomic history under Alain Ducasse, before joining the Belles Rives Group in 2006 under the management of Marianne Estène-Chauvin.
A history carried by jazz
In Juan-les-Pins, jazz became the soundtrack to a carefree era in the 1920s. Charleston, ragtime, blues and negro spirituals accompanied the resort's festive life.
In 1950, the town became a mecca for the New Orleans jazz revival, marked by the presence of Sidney Bechet. Since the 1960s, the Hôtel Juana has played a central role in welcoming artists for the Jazz à Juan Festival.
Legends such as Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington and Ray Charles regularly stayed here, sometimes going so far as to prolong the night by improvising at the bar.
Today, the Jazz à Juan Festival perpetuates this heritage every July with an eclectic program featuring contemporary artists such as Diana Krall, Sting, Lionel Richie, Marcus Miller, Stevie Wonder and Melody Gardot.
